In 2013, Immanuel began an outreach program by helping to serve Hessed House in Aurora.  Hessed House is the second largest homeless shelter in Illinois, and provides clothing to those in need throughout the Kendall and Kane county area.  Two evenings a month we provide four volunteers to help run the facility. Clothing donations are collected and delivered to Hesed House on our volunteer days.  Volunteers also facilitate the procurement of formal wear to homeless teens so they may experience the joys of high school dances and other memorable special occasions.

We meet at Hesed House on the 2nd and 4th Thursday each month to help the staff at Hesed House.

Immanuel continues to support the Kendall County Community Food Pantry .  Anyone can take an “Inasmuch” pack and fill it with food and necessities and return it to the church for giving to the food pantry. These packs and all other donations are loaded up and delivered to the KCCFP at the end of each month.

And the king will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, Inasmuch as you did it to one
of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.'
Matthew 25:40

Immanuel continues to find new ways to reach those in the community through fellowship and sponsored events. Annually, Immanuel hosts a blood drive, tractor sunday, pet blessing, kite flying day, fall dinner date, a weekend of bell ringing and participates in the city of Yorkville's July 4th parade. Visit our events page for more information!

May it be with God’s grace that this ministry be a huge success and continue to allow Immanuel Lutheran Church to grow and become an even greater part of His plan. We have much work to do both within our own midst, and now within our Outreach program. God has been with us and generous to us all these years. He has now given us something new to look forward to as we develop our newest project, a community garden !

As our name Immanuel means “God with us”,
may He continue to be with us well into our future as He has now been for 150 years.
The ELCA program of God’s Work Our Hands , an outreach for helping others in the community one Sunday a year.  Immanuel began participating in this program in 2015 by packing meals for Feed My Starving Children .  The official God’s Work Our Hands Sunday is September 11, so Immanuel schedules their day of service at FMSC the first Saturday of September.  Anyone interested is welcome to join us in this fun and rewarding event.
